Great challenges, arising from opportunities and demands, require us to develop specific programmes

Many of them joint and in collaboration with agents from the ecosystem, to provide the sector and the public with better services and tools.

Basque Wine

BASQUE WINE is a promotional brand for the different wines, ciders and craft beers made in the Basque Country, promoted by the Basque Government in search of new marketing channels. HAZI collaborates with this project by performing and supporting the actions necessary to achieve the objectives of creating this brand.

The drinks accepted under the BASQUE WINE concept are those falling under the following Designations of Origin and collective brands: Wine with Qualified Designation of Origin DOCa Rioja prepared in the Basque Country, txakoli from the DOs of Álava, Bizkaia and Getaria, “Euskal Sagardoa-Sidra Natural del País Vasco (Natural Cider from the Basque Country)” and craft beers from the collective “Basque Beer” brand.

Hazi performs control and certifications tasks on all Eusko Label products to ensure that they meet the requirements established by the quality seal.

Digitalisation

Digital transformation, as a tool to increase competitiveness, also allows us to improve productivity and develop new products that meet new needs in the sector and in society. HAZI participates in the Framework Programme for the digitalisation of the Basque food and wood value chains with different operating areas, such as consultancy, integration of an interoperability and socialisation platform and transfer mechanisms, as well as ad hoc tools.

It aims to involve all agents from these value chains, giving them the capability to record information (manufacturing process, tracking, etc.) through IoT elements (sensors, transponders, QR codes, NFC, etc.) and other technologies that help to optimise, automate and improve processes.

Behatokia

This observatory is the knowledge framework of the Basque Food and Wood Value Chain, through a vision of the ecosystem created by its agents, products and services and the relationship between them. The information extracted from it helps to design public policies for the sector.

Under the name of Behatokia, situation reports are also prepared on the agri-food sector and the fishing sector that analyse, among other issues, the evolution of agricultural prices and markets, fish auctions at fish markets, the latest news on grants and different news items related to the sector and the EU agricultural and fishing policy.

The Food Global Ecosystem

THE FOOD GLOBAL ECOSYSTEM, known as TFGE, is a space for creating opportunity, open to the world, to networks and to companies, with the objective to support and provide a service to entrepreneurs, also contributing knowledge and added value to the great challenges in the food sector.

It is a rich gastro-food ecosystem open to public and private and collaborative bodies, with support programmes and instruments for the digital, regional and environmental transformation of the Basque Food Value Chain. TFGE is also a tool for positioning the Basque Country as a global benchmark in the gastronomic and food sector thanks to its attributes of quality and economic, social, cultural and environmental sustainability.

HAZI is the coordinating entity and provides technical secretariat for TFGE.

Forestry bioeconomy

HAZI performs the functions of technical secretariat for the Basque Bioeconomy Alliance, which is promoted by the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government and involves different private companies and public entities. This initiative arose in response to the need to diversify the economy towards a model based on the use of biological resources. In the Basque Country, the most widespread and used natural resource for the transformation and generation of the bioeconomy is wood.

This Alliance is open to all companies and agents with bioeconomy projects, under development or on the market, and that show an interest in actively collaborating and participating in raising the profile of this economic model that is increasingly widespread in Europe and with undoubted potential for the economic diversification of the Basque Country. The objective is to achieve a transformation that leads to the generation of new, more sustainable and competitive business models.
